The
residents of Joyfallee are all aflutter, having been alerted to the fact that
today is Plover Appreciation Day http://birdlife.org.au/projects/beach-nesting-birds/plover-appreciation-day . The plovers have subsequently been demanding (in
their endearing plovery style) that they be appreciated. The best the other
residents have been able to come up with is the offer of an around-the-clock
vigil to catch any eggs falling from the plover eyrie .
The plovers
(predictably) feel under-appreciated.
